Pressure relief valves are used as safety elements in low-rated distribution transformers. In case of explosive pressure rise in the transformer tank, the excessive pressure must be released immediately to avoid damage to the tank. This type of safety valve is suitable for totally enclosed transformers.

Build

A pressure relief valve consists of a brass bonnet, a conical body, a rubber seal between the bonnet and body, and a coil spring that supports the entire system. Once the relief pressure is reached, the bonnet lifts to relieve the excess pressure. After that, the valve will close automatically. The relief pressure of the valve can be adjusted steplessly from 0.2 to 0.7 bar. In addition, the valve can be equipped with a special protective cap to prevent unauthorized operation.
